September 2, marked the 40th anniversary of the repose of Blessed Hieromonk Seraphim (Rose).
In honor of the occasion, pilgrims from across America and beyond made their way to St. Herman’s, the monastery founded by Fr. Seraphim in Platina, California.
Among the distinguished guests were His Grace Bishop Gerasim of Fort Worth (OCA), former abbot of St. Herman’s and a spiritual child of Fr. Seraphim, His Grace Bishop James of Sonora (ROCOR), who also knew Fr. Seraphim, and His Eminence Metropolitan Nikoloz of Akhalkalaki and Kumurdo and Kari (Georgian Orthodox Church).
Together with the clergy of the monastery and other visiting clergy, the hierarchs celebrated the Divine Liturgy over Fr. Seraphim's grave.
The pilgrimage was also blessed with a surprise visit from the myrrh-streaming and wonderworking Hawaiian Iveron Icon of the Mother of God.
Several people who knew Fr. Seraphim, including Bishops Gerasim and James, and Archpriest Martin Person (ROCOR) also shared reminiscences of him in the monastery trapeza.
Photos marked "Punks and Monks" are republished with the permission of Punks and Monks Books. Their full gallery can be found here. Other photos were sent to OrthoChristian by others who were present at the pilgrimage.
