Patriarch John X, Patriarch of Antioch and All the East for the Greek Orthodox Church, extended congratulations to Pope Leo XIV following his election. In his message, His Beatitude wrote:
"We received with great joy, emotion, and hope the news of your election to the Apostolic See of Rome. We extend to you our sincere congratulations in Christ, our Risen Lord. We ask the Almighty Savior to welcome the soul of Pope Francis into His divine light. With all our hearts, we pray that the Lord, who is All-Good, grant us the grace to embody together the spirit of the Gospel that the world so greatly needs and to serve as His faithful servants.
Pray, Your Holiness, for the Church of Antioch and for Syria and Lebanon. May God keep you for many years to come."
